Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a gold-top serum separator (SST) tube. Immediately spin down and send 1 mL of serum frozen in plastic vial. Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection, and collector's initials.

Specimen stability:

8 hours at room temperature 

24 hours when tightly capped and stored at 2-8°C

If unable to complete testing within 24 hours, remove serum from the SST tube and freeze at ≤ -20°C.

Minimum volume:  0.5 mL
