Useful For

Potentially useful adjunct for diagnosis and monitoring of pancreatic cancer.

 

May be used for differentiating patients with cholangiocarcinoma and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) from those with PSC alone.

Specimen Requirement

Rejection criteria: High doses of biotin will affect this assay

 

Collect blood in a gold-top serum separator tube (SST).  Spin tube and send 1 mL of serum in a plastic vial. Label tube with the patient"s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection and collector's initials. 

 

Specimen stability:

8 hours at room temperature

48 hours refrigerated at 2-8 °C

If unable to complete testing within 48 hours, remove serum from SST tube and freeze at ≤ -20°C.

 

Minimum volume:  0.5 mL
