Test Code CBGAS Cord Blood Gas Panel, Arterial

Important Note

Syringes may be labeled with Mom's name if the newborn is not registered yet.

Specimen

Arterial cord blood in a heparinized syrings, with out the needle, that is free from bubbles or excess air. Syringe must be labeled "ARTERIAL". Syringes may be sent to the lab on ice but it is not necessary if delivered in a timely fashion.

Clotted specimens or specimens with excess air will be rejected. 

 

Note:

Syringes may be labeled with Mom's name if the newborn is not registered yet.

In the case of twins, Baby A and Baby B must be differentiated.

 

Minimum volume:  1mL

Specimen stability:  30 minutes at room temperature
