Detecting bacterial infections of sterile body fluids.

Specimen

Body fluid: Pleural, Peritoneal (Ascites), Amniotic, Synovial and Pericardial

 

Minimum Volume:  Submit 1mL to 10mL of fluid in a screw-capped, sterile container. If submitting in a syringe, the needle must be removed prior to transportation. 

 

Specimen Stability:  It is desirable to receive fluid specimens within 1 hour of collection for optimal results.
