Useful For
The detection of Hepatitis B surface antigen in human adult, adolescent and pediatric serum.
Specimen
Draw blood in a gold-top, serum separator tube, labeled with the patient's first and last name, date of birth, time and date of collection and the collector's initials, if applicable. Allow specimen to clot for a minimum of 30 minutes before centrifuging.
Minimum volume: 1mL, serum
Specimen stability: 14 days, refrigerated. For longer storage, freeze at ≤ 20°C

Non-reactive (negative)
A reactive result will be reported as "Presumptive positive, confirmation to follow" and be sent to a reference lab for confirmation testing.
