Reference Values

Negative for: Human Papilloma Virus High Risk mRNA by Amplified Probe.

Positive for: Human Papilloma Virus High Risk mRNA by Amplified Probe.

 

A positive test indicates the presence of 1 or more HPV types in the panel, the test cannot  determine the specific HPV type present; detection of DNA from 14 high-risk Human Papillomavirus (HPV) types (16, 18/45)

Note: Testing is for High-Risk HPV types only in cervical specimens; HPV types 16, 18/45

 

 

Specimen Requirements

1. Collect specimen using a ThinPrep® vial with liquid media and brush head.

2. Label vial with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and actual time of collection, medical record number, and type of specimen.

3. Please complete a “Cervical Cytology ‘PAP’ Request Form” in “Request Forms/Forms” in “Special Instructions.”

Note:  1. Clearly indicate on the “Cervical Cytology ‘PAP’ Request Form” that HPV testing is desired, or call Pathology at 207-626-1109   with the request.

2. Testing for HPV ONLY, without PAP, requires submission in a ThinPrep® vial as well.
