Specimen Requirements

Plasma

Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) plasma tube. Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of draw and phlebotomist’s initials. Spin down and send plasma refrigerated.

Specimen stability:

Fresh specimens should be used for testing.

If testing is delayed, store the specimen for no more than 48 hours at 2-8°C.

Minimum volume:

0.3 mL
