Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) or a green-top (sodium heparin) tube(s), and send EDTA or sodium heparin whole blood (minimum volume:  0.5 mL) refrigerated. Venous specimen is preferred for verification of repeat analysis.

Note:  1. Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of draw, and phlebotomist’s initials.

2. Please complete a “Blood Lead Reporting Form” in “Request Forms/Forms” in “Special Instructions” and forward it with the specimen.
