Useful For
An adjunct to culture for the detection of past or current Legionnaires disease (Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1) via Immunochromatographic Membrane Assay.
Specimen Requirements
Urine
Collect specimen in a clean screw-capped urine container. Label the specimen with the patient's name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of actual collection and the collector's initials. Any type of urine collection is acceptable (e.g. Clean Catch, Random, etc.)
Specimen Stability
- 24 hours at room temperature
- 14 days if refrigerated at 2-8°C (Preferred)
Minimum Volume
0.25 mL

Negative
Note: A positve result for Legionella pneumophila serogroup 1 antigen in urine suggests past or current infection. Culture is recommended for suspected pneumonia to detect causative agent and to cofirm infection.
