Useful For
The determination of an individuals immune status for Measles, Mumps and Rubella.
Specimen Requirements
Serum
Draw blood in a gold-top (serum separater) gel tube or a red-top (no additive) tube. Label the specimen with the patient's name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of draw, the phlebotomist's initials and as serum. Spin down and send 2 mL of serum refrigerated.
Specimen stability:
2 days refrigerated at 2-8°C
Freeze at ≤ -20°C for longer storage
Minimum volume:
2 mL
Reference Ranges
Measles and Mumps IgG
reported as positive, negative and equivocal
Rubella IgG
reported as reactive, non-reactive and equivocal
A positive or reactive result indicates immunity to the virus
An equivocal result should be retested to confirm
