Specimen

1. Draw blood in light blue top (3.2% sodium citrate) tube. Separate plasma from cells within one hour of collection in a centrifuge at 3000RPM for 10 minutes.
2. Using a plastic (not glass) transfer pipette decant plasma to a plastic vial. Divide specimen into 1 ml aliquot.
3. Freeze specimen immediately.

Note:  Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of draw, and phlebotomist’s initials.
