Specimen Requirement

Serum

Draw blood in a red-top (no additives) tube. Allow specimen to clot completely. Centrifuge, remove serum and send refrigerated. Label specimen with patient name, date of birth, date and time of collection and phlebotomist initials.

Specimen stability:

48 hours at room temperature

14 days refrigerated

14 days frozen

Minimum volume:

0.2 mL

Specimen  rejection criteria:

Blood collected in a serum separater (SST) tube.
