Qualitative amphetamine results (positive or negative) and metabolites are detectable for about 2 days following use. Bronchodilators and nasal decongestant medications may contain amphetamine-like substances which may give an initial positive test result.

Methodology

This is an immunoassay which is for screening purposes only. Confirmation testing may be clinically indicated and must be specifically ordered by the provider.

Specimen Requirements

20 mL from a random urine collection in a plastic urine container. Send specimen refrigerated.

Note:  1. Submit 50 mL from a random urine collection if confirmation is also requested.

2. Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of collection, and collector’s initials.
