Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 24 hours of draw.

Capillary specimens collected in a MAP microtube must be tested with in 4 hours of collection.

Keep specimens refrigerated.

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) and send refrigerated. Tube must be 1/2 the expected fill volume. For pediatric specimen, draw a full, pink-top (EDTA) MAP microtube. (Clotted specimen is not acceptable.)

Note:  Label specimen with patient’s name (first and last), date of birth, date and time of draw, and phlebotomist’s initials.
