Test Code WDEEPC Deep Wound Culture (aerobic, anaerobic and gram stain)

Useful For

Aiding in the diagnosis of a bacterial infection in a deep wound.

Bone marrow and surgical specimens

Deep site (abscess, aspirate, bile, drainages, gallbladder, or wounds not open to air)

Minimum Volume: A sterile container (syringe or sterile cup) or one transport tube containing Liquid Aimes Transport Medium and swab.

Specimen Stability: Samples should be forwarded to the lab as soon as possible. Within two hours of collection is preferred.

No growth; usual flora for source (interpretation based on source)
